Blaenavon's Victoria House

Blaenavon's Victoria House
APi Communications has just completed work on a major project at Blaenavon's Victoria House in South Wales. The result provides a multi-media resource centre under one roof, which enables 2 local authorities, and Gwent Police to combine their IT storage in a secure environment, as well as providing a multi user conference and emergency control room.
Our work involved designing and installing the conference and control room audio visual and control systems, which included an interactive and video conferencing display wall, sound system, and routing control for the twelve computers within the conference table. We also installed a touch screen control system which enables simple control over complex behind the scenes switching so a variety of users can operate the system with minimal training.
Additional work is still underway, adding a 3D projection system to be used for staff training in this rapidly growing technology, which is being rolled out in some of the local schools.
For a town that was at the centre of the industrial revolution, Blaenavon could now become the "heart of a technological revolution".
Funding for the scheme came from the Welsh Assembly, Gwent Police and Torfaen Council. Around 50 staff will be housed in the centre.
